The Kobus pipe puller is an innovative new way to remove lead or leaking water pipes and replace them with new MDPE pipe in a single action. Without the need to dig trenches, the Kobus pipe puller replaces lead, copper and old PVC water supply pipes in around 25% of the time and much less cost of traditional methods.
This not only reduces the time and cost of the work but also ensures that no damage can be caused to other underground cabling or services in the process. It can also replace the crossroad communiactions pipe without affecting the traffic flow.
The KOBUS® pipe puller works by feeding a calibrated steel cable through the pipe to be removed. This cable is pulled into the pipe with a flexible fibre glass rodding system that is previously pushed into the length of pipe to be replaced. The annular space between the old pipe and the steel cable is then filled with KOBITE®, a special bonding solution, which sets to form a composite rope with the lead pipe. The new MDPE pipe is attached to the cable via a special head and as the old pipe is pulled out, the new one replaces it.
The KOBUS pipe puller uses a pipe pulling kit for each pipe that is to be replaced. These kits, available from U Mole, contain the Kobite material, calibrated cable, special head and the fittings required to remove the old pipe.
