The first event, Deep Foundations Institute Middle East Conference (DFIMEC) 2016, took place in May at the American University Dubai. As well as exhibiting at the event, Groundforce’s Technical Director, Tony Gould and Technical Development Manager, Steven Lloyd also provided a keynote presentation on aspects of foundation engineering specific to the UAE environment and structures.
The two-day conference provided an opportunity for the region’s geotechnical engineering practitioners and academicians to interact, exchange information and experiences, and present the latest developments in the field of foundation design and construction. Co-sponsored by the Deep Foundation Institute (DFI) and the American University in Dubai (AUD), and supported by the Society of Engineers-UAE, The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), SELEM DMCC and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
We were honored to have well-known experts from Europe, Asia and UAE participating as keynote speakers as they tackled topics that are urgent and relevant to the region. We are excited to have such a successful conference in such a crucial time.

The second event sponsored by Groundforce was the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Technical Convention which took place on 7th July in Doha, Qatar. The focus of the event was ‘sustainable construction’ and ‘global competence’.
The convention comprised 6 technical sessions throughout the day ranging from Project Risk Management, to Ground Improvement and Groundforce’s spotlight feature on Below Ground Temporary Works: Supporting Deep Excavations Using Proprietary Systems.
