Groundforce was shortlisted as a finalist in the Laois Environmental Business of the year category of the Laois Business Awards 2017. The inaugural award ceremony took place in April locally at the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel. The event was hosted by Laois County Council in association with the Laois Local Enterprise Office and aimed at recognising and celebrating the many thriving businesses and entrepreneurs in Laois.
Over 250 applicants from the region entered 9 different award categories. Entrants were then whittled down to just 28 finalists – including Groundforce of course!
The event included a talented young harpist, Marty Whelan from RTÉ Lyric FM was MC and local band The Lols provided music for the night. Encouraging and inspirational speeches came from Tom Mulhall - Cathaoirleach, John Mulholland - Chief Executive of Laois County Council, Deirdre Cleary - Head of Banking for Allied Irish Banks Laois Offaly & Kildare and our special guest speaker, John Moran of RHH International.
Kileen Civil Engineering, a customer of Groundforce, won the Environmental Business Award on the night, going on to also win overall Laois Business of the year Award. Congratulations to all the winners and runners up, in what the judges said was a “very tough task in choosing the winners as the calibre of finalists was so high.”
