CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course

The CITB - Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course assists managers, supervisors, agents and contractors who have the responsibility for managing and coordinating all forms of temporary works. The design of the course aims to give confidence to senior management, and those who engage with contractors, to reach an assessed standard of knowledge.

The two day course can accommodate up to 20 delegates per day.
This course is currently available as a virtual course up to 10 delegates, to attend the course delegates must have access to a computer or laptop that uses a microphone and webcam.

Course Objectives

  • Define the need for and duties of a Temporary Works Coordinator; codes of practice
  • Identify the roles & duties of various parties involved with TW’s including subcontractors
  • Possess a detailed knowledge and understanding of BS5975 in respect of TWC role
  • Understand temporary works are safety critical requiring careful co-ordination via policy and procedure in compliance with relevant regulation(s)
  • Accept the adoption of the management process outlined in BS5975, introducing the Temporary Works Co-ordinator as a key figure
  • Gain an awareness of the roles and responsibilities of designers and other parties identified in CDM Regulations 2015
  • Explore various levels of design briefs, checking, and contents of a design brief 
  • Recognise the role of the Principal Contractor in relation to the selection and appointment of Temporary Works Coordinators and Temporary Works Supervisors

  • Anyone who has the responsibility for managing any and all types of temporary works.

The TWS course has been developed in conjunction with the Temporary Works Forum, CECA, Build UK (formerly the UKCG) and other industry representatives, along with Site Safety Plus providers who currently offer TW courses. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) are also supporting this development. Having industry input and support means the course is fit for purpose and offers transferability.
