Groundforce’s Technical Director is New Chairman of a BSI Euro Committee

01 Mar

Tony Gould, who celebrates 30 years with Groundforce this year, has been appointed chairman of BSI committee B/514/29, the UK representation on WG9 - the CEN (Comité Européen de Normalisation) working group for standardisation of trench lining and hydraulic shoring systems.

In this position Tony will ensure that a UK viewpoint is established on European and international standardisation documents within the committee’s scope of operation and that effective measures are in place for representing those views in appropriate forums.

The BSI appointment comes 18 months after Tony was appointed a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE), an accolade reserved for senior civil engineers who have made a significant contribution to the civil engineering profession or have advanced the practice of engineering. Also a chartered engineer, Tony joined Groundforce when the VP group acquired Mechplant where his career designing and developing predominately hydraulic ground support systems started. Tony is regarded by many in the industry as a key innovator in proprietary hydraulic ground support technology.

He now leads the company’s 30+ technical team and shares his particular expertise through a technical blog on the Groundforce website.

BSI head of department Tim Newins said:

“A chairman of a BSI committee holds a key position in our standards work and we look forward to a fruitful working relationship during Tony’s term of office.”
